At the double bridge, a stone bridge dating back to the time of rafting, the Gahlenbach flows into the Rote Göltzsch. An idyllic reservoir lies above the Gahlenbach. The Rote Göltzsch flows towards Hohofen and flows into the Weiße Göltzsch at the exit of Ellefeld. Ore (red iron ore) around the Röthelstein was crushed and smelted in a specially built blast furnace. It was then processed in a stamp mill (hammer). The required blower was powered by water. The idea of establishing a cultural center on this magnificent piece of land, sometimes referred to as "Auerbach Switzerland," dates back to the time before the Second World War. The tourist association, founded in 1930, wanted to build a new natural stage at Röthelstein, where performances by the Plauen City Theater had already taken place. A lack of funds and World War II prevented this. In the 1950s, the residents of the Beerheide community began building a new natural stage. Many hardworking hands—especially the singers of the Beerheide Men's Choir—worked for many years, creating a natural stage that attracts many local and hiking enthusiasts. Since 1953, the traditional Whitsun singing event, known far beyond the borders of the Vogtland region, has taken place at Röthelstein every Whitsun Sunday. The Röthelstein stands near Beerheide near Auerbach. The rock is very easy to climb from the side. Railings provide support. In front of the rock is an open-air stage with plenty of seating. Occasional events take place here during the summer months. The Röthelstein is a quartzite rock, formerly also called ironstone, where the traditional Whitsun singing takes place. The Röthelstein, then known as the "Roteißenstein," was first mentioned in documents in 1582. Since 1953, the traditional Whitsun singing, known far beyond the borders of the Vogtland region, has taken place at the Röthelstein every year on Whitsun Sunday. Tens of thousands of guests from near and far have attended this traditional event in recent years, enjoying singing and music in a charming natural setting. There are many hiking trails leading to the Röthelstein. The shortest is the one from Beerheide.

Right next to the Rote Göltzsch, it's a great place to take a break, whatever the weather. A bench next to it invites you to relax.
