From a 221 meter high observation deck, we enjoy the breathtaking view of Lake Mead, the Colorado River and the numerous valleys and gorges that surround the dam. The Hoover Dam is about as high as a 60-story building and was the tallest dam in the world when it was built in 1935. During our visit, we have the opportunity to go inside the dam. We walk through the original construction tunnels and visit the observation deck with a view of a pressure pipeline and 8 of the commercial generators in the Nevada Powerhouse.

You can get a nice, panoramic overlook of Lake Mead from here. While sitting here you're on the Nevada side of the state line, but the east coast of the lake is technically in Arizona.

At the shores of the mighty Colorado River, you will find this neat park in the middle of the desert. Enjoy the view strolling through the park or taking a bite at one of the shady picnic tables.

The Davis Dam is a hydro-electric dam that produces between 1-2 terawatt of electricity each year. Behind the dam you'll find Lake Mohave, on which you'll find a number of resorts, watercraft rental shops, restaurants, and marinas. Due to its desert location the lake is a popular year round destination.

Princess Cove Picnic Area sits on a point in Lake Mohave. The views over the water and across to the mountains are great at anytime, but sunset is especially beautiful. During summer be prepared for crowds and extreme heat, getting an early start is the best way to avoid both.
