The village of Simonshofen developed from the farm of a Sigman mentioned in 1360. Hop cultivation was mentioned there as early as 1375. A beautiful circular hiking trail leads around the lake, with many benches inviting you to linger and “enjoy the landscape”. There is also a “history trail” along the path, which was created on the occasion of the “950th anniversary” in Happurg. There were only a few people walking today, but there is a lot going on here at the weekend.

During the week very pleasant corner. Not so recommendable on weekends in summer if you are looking for peace and quiet, can be overcrowded and noisy.
