A rock formation with a lovely view of Dreißig-Tiefenbach. The outline of a medieval castle is clearly visible. Unfortunately, the information sign has been vandalized with spray paint; that's unacceptable.

Adolphsburg Castle was built between 1673 and 1681 as a baroque moated castle for Johann Adolph von Fürstenberg. The builder held numerous Catholic religious offices, including provost in Paderborn and canon in Münster. He also served in the diplomatic service. Later, the castle was only occasionally used as a residence and hunting lodge. From 1919, schools were housed here. After 1956, the castle stood empty for decades and fell into disrepair. In 1984, extensive restoration work began and it was converted into a condominium complex.

Beautiful castle location above Bilstein, always worth a visit

Very nice facility

Forgotten view of Dreis-Tiefenbach. However, it has grown quite well.

A steep path leads up to the castle. Very exhausting. There is limited parking, most of it for hostel staff.

Beautiful castle complex. The hiking trail usually leads through the inner courtyard, but it was closed due to paving work. So today we officially went through the private parking area as an alternative, where we had a nice chat with one of the residents and learned a lot about the castle.
