Beautiful hiking area with many different trails that offer good views of the lake even in winter.

A hiking trail through the nature reserve along the Grötzinger Baggersse (gravel pit), with views of the lake, as well as other paths through the Weingarten Moor. In winter, the trail can be completed without mosquito repellent.

Lake Erlach is currently the last refuge for amphibians in the Oberwald. The previously declining amphibian population was counteracted by the targeted design of the water body. Here they find a habitat that the floodplain landscape of the Rhine had offered them since time immemorial, before human cultivation destroyed it.

From here, you can easily observe birds without disturbing them. Beautiful view over the lake.
