The Counts of Regenstein had the control room built around 1250. It served as a signal tower for their Landwehr system and as a protection tower for the Counts of Blankenburg. The round tower was built from shell limestone quarry stone with gypsum mortar, has a wall thickness of 1.2 m, is around 4.4 m in diameter and is 12.5 m high. Its viewing platform, which is 9.2 m high, can be reached via an internal staircase with 44 steps. A restoration took place between 2006 and 2008/2009. Source: Wikipedia
