Once you have arrived at the Kalmit, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Upper Rhine Valley. The Kalmithaus is located at 673 m on the Palatinate Wine Trail and is the highest hut in the Palatinate Forest. It is the first and oldest hiking hut in the region. The house was inaugurated in 1908. Guests can enjoy Palatinate dishes or changing daily specials and game specialties inside and on the patio with a panoramic view.

Great PWV hut, great refreshments and very good food at relaxed prices. Even in summer you can still get a nice seat. The hut itself is ideally located for both hikers and cyclists. Always a great stop for me on a larger tour.

Nice view - and good refreshments in the Ludwigshafener hut. At my stop today was the announcement made that the toilet is locked for 10 minutes, because the pump which pumped water from Maikammer high on the Kalmit was a bit overloaded and it takes a while until the water tank was refilled.
