The lake was created around 10,000 years ago when a glacier melted, but disappeared again 3,000 years ago. In 1980/81 a natural dam was created here again. This has created a beautiful leisure and nature reserve where you can enjoy taking a longer break. Nice seating on the drainage side and a large barbecue area by the waterfall.

A narrow path winds through the wild and romantic gorge. The crossing takes place via stairs, footbridges and bridges with constantly changing perspectives of the waterfalls.

This ridge path is a beautiful rocky getaway. A bit of rock climbing and sure footing allow for great views and an alpine experience. To be taken in dry weather and with caution. Not suitable for people who have difficulty climbing or are dizzy, but there is a safe alternative below.

The Sankenbachsee is a former karst lake southwest of Baiersbronn. It silted up around 3,000 years ago and could be artificially dammed up again because it lies below the Sankenbach waterfalls and is flowed through by the Sankenbach. When the snow cover is closed (according to the footprints about 50 cm above ground level), the high plateau exudes a special charm. Our view was fantastic and I can recommend a winter ascent to every sure-footed hiker.

Especially now in autumn, when colored leaves are still hanging in the mixed forest and only a few rays of sun shine through, the Gaishöll with the rippling water and the forest with the rustling panorama path in Sasbachwalden show themselves from a strangely wonderful side. The house chapel at the Spinnerhof and the black-brown sheep on the way as well as other small natural beauties to be discovered decorate the colorful autumn hike.

The Gaishölle is a special place. The Brandbach cascades down into the valley. The best way to explore this wildly romantic gorge near Sasbachwalden with huge rocks and boulders is on a hike on our premium trail. With a height difference of around 200 meters and 13!
