The King Maximilian II Monument on the Marienfelsen rock above the Lech Falls in Füssen was unveiled in 1866 in honor of King Maximilian II of Bavaria, who valued the region and promoted its development as a recreational area. The king's bust, set into the rock face, faces the gorge, near the legendary Magnustritt, and offers impressive views of the Lech Falls and the surrounding nature. The monument is a popular stop for hikers and cyclists who enjoy both historical significance and scenic beauty.

Narrow, quite challenging paths lead through the Ammer Gorge. There are no signs and the whole thing is not necessarily recommended with children.

The Schleier Falls are very beautiful and the difficult path through the Ammer Gorge is worth it. Please note: extremely sensitive area - entering the Schleier Falls and possibly "showering" in the waterfall causes damage that nature will take a very, very long time to repair. So: it's OK to look, but please don't enter!
