Overall, this is a wonderful, easy bike tour. Highlights include the beautiful, unspoiled Laber Valley, the rock cellars along the trail, and the Rose Cemetery in Dietkirchen.

It was a nice tour

Here for the 2nd time, but this time with a visit to the stalactite cave. There is no longer an official tour, but with the help of a brochure or by downloading the audio guide to your cell phone you can learn a lot about the beautiful stalactite cave, which is considered the most beautiful in Germany. I have never seen a more beautiful one. Highly recommended even without a personal tour, as you can choose your own pace. It is also worth mentioning that you can see bats and for an extra €1 you can take as many photos as you like, but without flash. Due to the cold, wet weather, it was warmer and more pleasant in the cave, as there was no wind and no rain.

Great trail again today, especially in combination with a detour to the plateau and subsequent technical downhill S2-S3.

The path winds through a beautiful beech forest up to the Buchberg (591 meters). Keep your eyes open for the rock towers of the Teufelskeller, which are hidden in the forest just before the summit.

The beginnings of the pilgrimage to the Mariahilfberg date back to the late 17th century. At that time there was a small burial chapel modeled on the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and a Way of the Cross. A wooden Lady Chapel was built in 1687 very close to the Calvary. Her most valuable jewelry was a copy of a famous painting of the Virgin Mary by Lucas Cranach the Elder. Today's pilgrimage church was built between 1718 and 1727 as one of five baroque Marian shrines in western Upper Palatinate. The richly decorated baroque high altar by Johann Ulrich Wiest contains the famous miraculous image of the Virgin and Child, which is deeply revered to this day.
