Bickesheim gained great importance through its pilgrimage church, whose historical origins are shrouded in mystery. The Eberstein family, who were very wealthy on the Hardt hill, allied themselves with the Margraves of Baden in the 13th century through the marriage of Margrave Rudolf I and Kunigunde von Eberstein. Starting in 1250, Rudolf I and Kunigunde had a new Gothic church built on the site of an even older Romanesque building. The much-venerated image of "Mary with Child" and the Eberstein rose, as well as the round pillars in the church, date from that period.

Buchtzigsee is a gravel pit lake that has been converted into an outdoor pool, operated by the Ettlingen municipal utilities. The water is chlorine-free yet clear. Adult admission is €5, but it offers all the amenities you'd expect from an outdoor pool: changing rooms, restrooms, showers, fries, and more, and, of course, lifeguards.

Well-developed road with gentle ups and downs and relatively little traffic.

great path ideal for the racing bike

A very beautiful section of the Tour de Murg with impressive views of the valley. The altitude can almost make you dizzy. The climb is very pleasant with a gradient of ~4%. Extreme caution is required on the descent. The path becomes quite narrow when encountering oncoming traffic; the curves are confusing. You should also expect pedestrians – especially on weekends, it's busier. Simply letting it roll and blasting down the valley at over 50 km/h is absolutely irresponsible!

Very beautiful section with bare rock on one side of the cycle path and wonderful views down to the Murg and the Murgtalbahn on the other side.
