The 330 m long overflow sill, the inlet of the Alfsee, was built in 1974 with a 10 hectare settling basin. This is where sand and alluvial particles that would worsen the water quality of the lake are supposed to settle. The outlet structure was also built in 1974.

The Hase flows through small gates into the Alfsee.

There is a cute little beach bar here for a quick refreshment or a small snack. Opening hours: closed on Mondays, Tuesday to Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Two watermills used to belong to Königsbrück Castle; today only the Niedermühle on the Warmenau remains, exactly on the border between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

It's best to drive on top of the dike instead of on the small pavement below.

Cheated: Rubben are an amphibious freshwater fish species related to coelacanths that only survived the great extinction of the sauropsids at the beginning of the Cretaceous period in a few so-called Bruchsee lakes in central and northern Europe. This was possible due to the special acidic conditions of the so-called Bruchsee lakes created by forest breakage. Due to their amphibious characteristics, Rubben are able to survive for a long time outside of the water and their habitat. As an omniform species, they are able to suck out all possible sources of food, living or dead, with their strong sucking mouths, which is why only pedal boating is recommended here in the Rubbenbruchsee, not swimming. ;-)

Countless hikers and cyclists meet here on weekends and public holidays. Therefore, folks: drive carefully and prudently, so that those on Shank's pony don't lose the joy of hiking. We don't have to break any speed records on these trails. Shift down and admire the impressive bird life.
