The Hackenberger Mill in Saarburg is a 13th-century mill museum that is open seasonally. The season begins April 13th and is open from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The entrance is located below the waterfall in Staden. The museum offers, among other things, a new listening tour and a detailed model of the mill.

I do not know to what extent the old traditions that there was a cult site from Germanic times at this point in the stream valley can be proven archaeologically. It is probably no coincidence that the sign on the hiking trail speaks of this possibility in the subjunctive.

The old town of Saarburg with the castle, the church, the mill museum and the waterfall is definitely a magnet for visitors, at least in the summer months. Unfortunately, the old town is usually flooded with tourists on the weekends.

The so-called "Donnerloch" is the narrowest part of the Brodenbach valley. Here you will find a nice resting place between water and rocks that invites us to take a longer break. A real highlight of today's tour.
