A lovely place to rest With fresh beer and pleasant shade at the foot of the monastery.

A castle already stood on this site in the 13th century. A manor house was built in 1515, and replaced by the palace in 1536. Between 1834 and 1854, a horseshoe-shaped building and a chapel were built next to the palace. Sissi spent her childhood here between 1837 and 1854.

A wonderful gravel path winds its way through the shady trees of the Pöcking Forest, just a few meters from Lake Starnberg. Perfect for anyone who wants to combine nature with cycling fun.

Possenhofen Castle is a castle complex consisting of the Old Castle, a cubic hipped-roof building with four transverse corner towers, the New Castle, also known as the Horseshoe Building, and the castle chapel, which lies between the two buildings and is connected by a corridor. The castle is located in the Possenhofen district of the municipality of Pöcking in the Starnberg district of Upper Bavaria. Princess Elisabeth of Bavaria (also known as "Sisi"), the later Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary, spent large parts of her childhood here, which later made the castle extremely famous.
