A short, sharp climb - leading up to the village of Mathry. The village itself was a site of a former Bronze-Age defensive hill fort, acting as a perfect high point to spot an approaching enemy. Today, it's a little more quiet and the locals don't worry about that sort of thing so much.

Bike friendly reasonably priced food and cheery service well worth the stop

One of our favourite beaches in the area. A less obvious one so doesn’t get as busy, there are free public toilets and a water bottle top up, pub, (often) an ice cream van (although expensive mr whippy and not a patch on Pointz Castle ice cream…but then what is?!). There is a pay car park if you drive there but the pay by phone can’t be relied on as no phone signal! Don’t think it takes cards either.

Nolton Haven is a narrow inlet of pebbles and sand at high tide but at low tide, a long narrow beach is revealed backed by high cliffs. There is a car park, toilet facilities and a pub here.

This old-fashioned pub is a real gem - think sawdust floors, hams hanging from the ceiling and a warm wood stove.

The Iron Bridge is an attractive place to bird watch. Most times you're certain to see ducks, geese and swans, less frequently the sharp-eyed may catch a glimpse of a king fisher in and around the reed beds.

Parrog and Parrog Beach were originally created to serve as a port, it still has some of its history visible. There is a lime kiln remaining, along with some original quay walls.

Pentre Ifan is a burial chamber that would originally have been covered with an earthen mound. The giant capstone appears to be precariously balanced on three uprights, but it's fairly solid as it has remained in place for around 5,000 years so far. Pentre Ifan frames the Preseli Hills, source of Pembrokeshire bluestones that made parts of Stonehenge as well. There are a couple of racks to stand and secure your bike too in the lay-by car park by the monument entrance.

Around 5,000 years old, this Neolithic burial chamber is a fantastic example amongst several others in the Nevern Valley. The balanced stone is exceptionally impressive and it’s free to see. Cycling isn't permitted for the last few metres from the road.
