Opened in 1864, the bridge connected Ocnei Street and the Terezian neighborhood. The old maps of the city's fortifications are mentioning the existence of such a construction in the area of ​​the Ocnei Gate. The bridge was built out of stone over a wooden bridge and it seems that it has had its current form since 1908. The construction has a length of 41,8 meters, two openings and a width of 10 meters. The balustrade is made out of a frieze of 20 Doric columns placed between three pillars that structure the bridge. The Sibiu city's coat of arms is applied to the body of each pillar.

Rasinari is the first Transylvanian village mentioned in official documents since 1204. The name of the commune - Răşinari - is a derivative of the noun rasină (resin). Until Sibiu was founded, the villagers lived by selling the resin that they took for selling to the nearby market in Cisnadie. It is therefore possible that the inhabitants of this village were called rasinari, a name that later became the name of the name of the village itself.
