Views for days on a clear day

It gets steep from the right handed that is Breach Barton Lane. Plenty steep enough for me thanks!

If I had not stopped for the cattle grid I think I would have managed this climb but it was hard to get moving once I had stopped. Next time I'll cycle across the grid which turned out to be full of dirt and therefore ok to cycle across.

Winter's Tower, also known as Combe Wood Lodge/Tower, was built in around 1750 for local landowner John Winter. A wealthy resident of nearby Bishops Lydeard, he wanted to build an "eyecatcher" which could be seen from his house, which would also double as accommodation for his gamekeeper and as a place from which to spy on his neighbours and enemies, the Lethbridges of Sandhill Park. The imposing tower is five storeys high and constructed from rendered local sandstone.

from the A39 at the northern end of the Quantock Hills between Kilve and West Quantoxhead. The road is good as well although it can be busy and the cars go quite quickly so watch out.

Nice road onto the Quantock Hills from Over Stowey in the east towards Crowcombe gate and the car park on the top of the Quantocks. It's quite a tough climb but the views are great.

The Quantock Hills is an Area of Outstanding natural Beauty (AONB) in northern Somerset. Easily accessible by bike from the mainline train station of Bridgewater or from the M5. The hills form a long ridgeline heading inland from Williton and the Bristol Channel to Taunton inland. There are great mountain biking and gravel bike options as well as some great views and steep hills for road bikes.

Blue Anchor bay is on the Bristol Channel between Watchet and Minehead. It's a small settlement and one of the smaller stops on the West Somerset Heritage railway line. The beach is large and rocky/sandy. The tide moves quickly here. The road follows the coast for about 1km, it's a nice surface and a great stretch to ride.
