The Probstmühle (Provost's Mill) in Oberdorla is one of the seven mills that once stood, or still stand, on the Siebenmühlenbach stream. The name Probstmühle (Provost's Mill) or Herrenmühle (Herren's Mill) probably dates back to the 11th century, the year it was built. At that time, the mill belonged to the church foundation and was thus subordinate to the parish priest (Provost). Like most mills, the mill is a grain mill. The Seebach Dam impounds the Singelbach stream in the Unstrut river basin. It was built between 1974 and 1976 and commissioned in 1977. It consists of a main dam and a secondary dam. The dam's primary functions are flood protection and low-water elevation. It also serves today as a source of domestic water and for local recreation.
