Friedrichsplatz in Mannheim is a true gem of the city – a magnificent neo-Baroque square with Art Nouveau elements, built around the famous water tower. Constructed from 1889 onwards, it was intended to be "one of the most beautiful city entrances in Europe".

At 217.8 meters, the Mannheim Telecommunications Tower is one of the city's most striking structures—and a true viewing classic! 🌆 It was built between 1973 and 1975 and stands picturesquely between the banks of the Neckar and Luisenpark.

A leisurely start at Friedrichsplatz, one of Germany's most beautiful Art Nouveau squares. The Water Tower, the heart of Mannheim, with its fountains and pergola, provides the perfect backdrop for the start of your tour.

The route is used by many, from commuters to recreational athletes and even walkers. However, the route is also ideal for training, especially for sprints on gravel or road bikes, but you should choose times when there are fewer people. For safety reasons and to respect all other participants, I recommend avoiding rush hour during the week.

The Papyrus Fountain was created by the sculptor and medalist Gernot Rumpf (born in Kaiserslautern in 1941) and donated by PWA Waldhof on the occasion of its 100th anniversary on June 26, 1984.
