Altfriedland Monastery Ruins, open on Saturdays in late summer for the music series "Music in Altfriedland Monastery"

The beautiful Altfriedland Monastery Church is one of the oldest buildings in Märkische Schweiz (Markish Switzerland) and tells a story spanning almost 800 years. Originally built between 1230 and 1271 as part of a Cistercian monastery, it was rebuilt in 1734. The striking church tower was added in 1864. Today, the church serves as a Protestant village church and is an important cultural center of the town. In addition to the church itself, the ruins of the refectory and the well-preserved 15th-century cloister are worth a look. These are historical relics of monastic life in bygone times. Its location in the Märkische Schweiz nature reserve makes a visit particularly attractive: Situated directly on the Klostersee (Monastery Lake), the surrounding area offers idyllic views and invites you to take walks amidst a unique natural and cultural landscape.

The Protestant village church of Münchehofe is a fieldstone church dating back to the 13th century. In 1972, a storm damaged the building so severely that demolition was planned. This was averted by the initiative of the residents, who began restoring the church in 1988. After reunification, a support association was founded to continue the work.

Unfortunately, the church already has some obvious cracks.

The listed village church of Garzau was built in the 13th century - like most churches in the region - from fieldstone. After being destroyed in the Thirty Years' War, it was rebuilt in 1724 and extensively restored in the early 1990s.

Easy to use cycle path. Unfortunately with car traffic.
