Groß Quassow is one of the oldest villages in this area and was first mentioned in a document in 1346 as the property of the Stolp monastery. It later belonged to the Strelitz office, but then became the personal possession of Duchess Eleonore Maria. In July 2012, the community celebrated the 666th anniversary of its first documented mention.
