Beautiful little church, well maintained

The park at Boek Manor was redesigned after 1840 by Maximilian von Schwerin-Putzar and is considered a significant example of 19th-century garden design. As a cultural-historical monument, it provides a vivid impression of the garden design of that time and invites visitors to linger.

The village of Liepen can look back on a long history. It was first mentioned in documents in 1386. While Gothic brick churches can be found in other villages of this age, the present church in Liepen is relatively new. It was commissioned in 1886 from a Neustrelitz master builder after the old half-timbered church could no longer be used due to dilapidation. The damage this church had suffered during the Thirty Years' War had only been repaired in a makeshift manner. The builder was Baron von Kapherr, the then landowner of Klein Vielen. In Kratzeburg, the "Flatterhus" is located, a national park information center of the Müritz National Park, dedicated to bats. Visitors can expect an interactive exhibition about these fascinating animals as well as information about the region. The Flatterhus is a starting point for cycling tours and is located on the "SpurenWeg" (track path), which is also accessible for the visually impaired. A special highlight is the annual Bat Night with exciting activities. Kratzeburg is ideal for a nature-based cycling tour in the region.

Granzin is an idyllically situated village in the municipality of Kratzeburg and offers direct access to the Müritz National Park. The town is an attractive starting point or stopover point for cyclists, as the Havel Spring Lakes Cycle Path and the Müritz National Park Circuit pass through here. The routes lead through tranquil forests, past clear lakes, and offer impressive natural experiences. The Havelkrug Granzin, with its regional specialties and refreshments, invites you to linger for a while – ideal for a rest amidst pristine scenery.

The village church in Kratzeburg was built in 1786 as a simple half-timbered building and is an impressive example of rural religious architecture in the Mecklenburg Lake District. Inside, a colorfully decorated Baroque pulpit altar lends the space a special atmosphere. An art-historical highlight is the late Gothic carved altar from the second half of the 15th century, originally from the church in Schillersdorf, which depicts a detailed crucifixion scene with numerous figures. The organ was built in 1992 in the Neo-Gothic style and blends harmoniously into the overall historical setting. The church is part of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Kratzeburg, which has been affiliated with the Neustrelitz-Kiefernheide parish since 2010.
