アルベックはとても良いところです

Until 1895, the residents of Ahlbeck and their guests had to travel to Swinemünde or Heringsdorf for church services. The cantor and teacher Johann Koch, who came to Ahlbeck in 1847, is considered the founder of its own church. The history of the church in Ahlbeck, like that of the church in the woods in neighboring Heringsdorf, is closely linked to the town's development into a seaside resort: Ahlbeck's first visitors stayed in Johann Koch's house in 1852. On July 28, 1865, he founded the "Committee for the Construction of a Protestant House of Worship" and collected donations from residents and visitors for almost three decades. Johann Koch (1818–1894) did not live to see the laying of the foundation stone on July 22, 1894; he died on June 1, 1894. The brick church, built in the Historicist style with Neo-Gothic elements, was completed in 1895 and consecrated on August 29. Its original furnishings have been preserved to this day. With its pointed barrel-vaulted wooden ceiling spanning the room, it resembles a large, upturned ship.

It lies on the former border between the two countries and is the longest coastal pedestrian and cycle path in Europe. It connects the German seaside resort of Ahlbeck with the Polish city of Świnoujście (Swinemünde) and passes through three imperial seaside resorts dating back to the Prussian era: Bansin, Heringsdorf, and Ahlbeck. The promenade stretches for a total length of 12 km.

This crossing existed here until 2006 and was open 24 hours a day. However, on December 21, 2006, it was closed following the conclusion of the Schengen Agreement.

A very nice bike path from Świnoujście to Bansin, which runs through Ahlbeck, is very crowded on weekends. A herring roll at the pier is a must!
