The Deesbach fore-dam is idyllically located in the Lichte valley, near the towns of Deesbach and Unterweißbach in Thuringia. Since it was put into operation in 1991, it has been damming the Lichte. At times it was used as a source of drinking water for the region. Today it fulfils its role as a fore-dam for the preliminary purification of water for the Leibis-Lichte dam. The fore-dam can only be reached on foot or by bike. From here, several beautiful hiking trails lead through the Thuringian Forest.

A very nice view of the Leibis dam. But there are other beautiful views of the Leibis dam and Desbach pre-dam. If you walk all the way around the dam wall The circular route is also very well signposted.

The hiking trail around and on the dam is always a pleasure. If you want to enjoy some peace and quiet. And you are in the middle of nature.

The parking lot is open 24 hours a day. Free of charge too. There are also street lamps in the parking lot. From there it is about 1 km to the dam. Unfortunately a bit steep climb.
