Another historical witness to the mining industry is located in Kamsdorf (Thuringia) and the surrounding area. Here, the extremely strenuous and dangerous work of the miners can be vividly experienced. My deepest respect goes to all miners and those employed in the mining industry. Good luck!

St. John's Church is the main church of Saalfeld in southeastern Thuringia. It is one of the most important church buildings in Thuringia. The largest hall church in the state, it stands on a hill overlooking the Saale River in Saalfeld's old town, very close to the market square. Its two 64-meter-high towers are visible from afar. After a Romanesque predecessor burned down in 1314, the present Gothic St. John's Church was built between 1380 and 1514. The nave vaults were added between 1449 and 1456; the chancel vault is dated 1514 by inscription. Source: Wikipedia

A hall church dating from 1789, incorporating a Romanesque predecessor. Eastern roof tower. Inside, a pulpit altar and baptismal font.

A lovely little chapel, worth visiting with a bit of luck. Definitely on Heritage Day. 😄
