The Stone Gate in Salzwedel is an impressive late Gothic city gate, built around 1530 and considered the youngest of the once numerous gates of the New Town. It was part of the medieval city fortifications, and its ornamentation testifies to the Hanseatic city's prosperity at that time. Today, Steintorstraße (Steintor Street) leads directly through the structure, which is picturesquely situated on the Dumme River. For cyclists, the Stone Gate is a worthwhile destination, as it can easily be incorporated into a tour of the historic old town and the green surroundings of the Altmark region. Cafés, small shops, and the proximity to other sights make it an ideal stop on a bike tour.

Former provost church dating from 1161. Irregular fieldstone masonry with brickwork. Tower demolished in 1939 after collapse. Freestanding wooden bell tower since the 1950s.

Tower visible from afar, which probably served as a water tower, now converted into an apartment with a front garden.

It's nice to drive around and view from the outside. I don't know if it's possible to view the inside.

Not much traffic but nice to look at and easy to drive through
