The Schmalensee (officially "Schmalsee") is located above the road between Mittenwald and Klais, nestled in the picturesque rolling meadows at an elevation of approximately 938 meters. It covers approximately 7 hectares, is only 2.5 meters deep, and is surrounded by reeds, meadows, and trees. The lake is privately owned and used as a fishing water – therefore, swimming is officially prohibited, even though the water quality is occasionally present.
