Alcoutim Castle was built in the second half of the 13th century, under the reign of D. Sancho II. This castle played a crucial role during the Reconquista and the War of Restoration of Independence. In the 20th century, it was subject to conservation and restoration. Currently, it houses a museum that displays the rich archaeological heritage of the castle and the surrounding region, including pieces from the Neolithic to the Modern Period.

The Corte Pequena Dam is a small body of water hidden among the hills in the region. It ends up going unnoticed due to its proximity to the much larger Albufeira de Odeleite. From this point on the road, however, there is a beautiful view of the dam that is worth the stop.

Along the road on the Barranco do Ribeirão route you are surrounded by vegetation typical of the region. Cork oaks and pine trees all along the way. At this point it becomes a very pleasant route.
