Lake Whelchel is 200 acres in size and named after Zeb Whelchel. He is given credit for the creation of Lake Whelchel. This lake is a public reservoir, delivering water for Cherokee County. Lake Whelchel features a boat ramp and picnic facilities. Fishing is allowed with a valid SC Fishing License.
