Star Line runs fast, frequent hydro-jet ferries from Saint Ignace, with the trip taking about 16–20 minutes. Some departures even pass under the Mackinac Bridge for a scenic bonus. Adult roundtrip tickets cost around $34, with discounts for kids and bikes. You can buy tickets online or at the dock, and there’s free parking on site. Ferries run daily from 9:00 AM to 7:15 PM.

A welcoming lakeside town and the gateway to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Saint Ignace is also an important resupply spot if you're hiking the NCT. It’s an ideal place to take a break—restock your gear, enjoy local spots like Driftwood or B.C. Pizza, and soak up Lake Huron views from the scenic boardwalk. This path provides spectacular views of the lake, which looks fantastically blue on a sunny day. The path isn't particularly wide so it is more appropriate for a scenic cycle rather than a speedy one at the busier times of day.

The Bay View Association is a collection of historic Victorian cottage homes. It operates for six months during the summer and offers educational programs for adults and children, including a music college, a weekday kids club, and a women's council. The neighborhood remains unoccupied from October to March.
