If you've ever tried to plan jogging around Lake Superior, you know how quickly the sheer number of options can feel overwhelming. With so many trails, it's hard to tell which routes are genuinely worth your time and effort, and which are just filler. That's where we come in: our komoot community has mapped, run, and reviewed these routes, so we've done the legwork to bring you a curated shortlist of the very best.

Jogging around Lake Superior means immersing yourself in a landscape defined by rugged coastlines, ancient cliffs, and dense forests, all punctuated by spectacular waterfalls. The terrain varies dramatically, from easy paved paths along the shoreline to more challenging routes through woodlands, offering something for every runner. While many trails are accessible year-round, the best time of year for jogging is typically outside of winter, when conditions are most favorable.

If you only do one route, make it the Gooseberry Falls State Park loop via River View Trail. At 3.1 miles (5.0 km), it offers a fantastic payoff with stunning waterfall views and glimpses of Lake Superior, perfect for a memorable run. For a slightly different feel, the Agate Beach via Gitchi-Gami Trail is a moderate 3.3 miles (5.2 km) paved route that’s great for a scenic, steady pace along the water. With over 800 runners already exploring these paths with komoot, you can trust you're in good company.
