As a teenager, I spent several days listening to music from the fence on my racing bike. Back home, they thought I'd been training for ages again... I found it incredibly fascinating. It was also the first multi-day festival on mainland Europe. Naturally, it was heavily inspired by the Woodstock festival held in the US the year before.

Beautiful, stately mill along the Rotte River. Well worth a visit, whether cycling or walking.

The well-preserved windmills are worth a visit.

Plas is together with the Achterplas a peat lake. Between Bergse Voorplas and the Rotte runs a cycling and walking path which is definitely worth it and forms a beautiful connection between the center of Rotterdam and the Rottemeren.

The first 2 years of my life I lived opposite this forest. I can't remember anything about it but it does create a bond. My grandmother, where we lived at the time (shortage of housing is everyday) sometimes told that her father secretly went chopping wood during the war. That was of course extremely dangerous. Despite the logging during the war, the forest has dried out considerably and in some places is a beautiful rich forest.
