If you cycle from the Steenwijk-Beukers canal, you will have meadows on your right, while after the J.v.Nassauweg you will see new nature developing on your left. If you cycle straight on at the Kooiweg, you will see a large decoy on your left. In my youth they called it the largest duck decoy in Europe. Further on you will cycle along the Gieterse Meer. The only lake in Weerribben-Wieden that has developed naturally.

The cycle path between Wanneperveen and Giethoorn takes you through a beautiful part of Wieden. Be careful at the bridge, because I advise anyone without steering skills to get off.

Cycling through Giethoorn is definitely worth it. Giethoorn is located in the middle of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, one of the largest wetlands in the Netherlands, and offers cyclists numerous routes through a breathtaking nature reserve. The paths lead you along quiet canals, vast reed fields and marshes, where you can admire the local flora and fauna, including water birds and perhaps even a curious heron.

The Beukers-Steenwijk Canal is a peaceful waterway that winds through the Overijssel landscape and connects Steenwijk with the Beulakerwijde and other waters. Surrounded by green banks and wide fields, the canal offers a pleasant route for a relaxing bike ride along the water.
