This cupola lookout cabin was built in 1926, was used for emergencies into the 1960's. Hikers can actually use the lookout that includes platforms and a loft for sleeping, a woodstove, and a table with a guest book. It is available on a first come, first serve basis.

This swinging bridge spans the width of Kootenai Falls, where the Kootenai River loses 300 feet of elevation over just a few hundred yards. The bridge offers good views of the falls and provides access to both banks of the river.

Kootenai Falls is the largest undammed falls in Montana and a sacred site to the Kootenai people. It is popular with anglers and kayakers and is a picturesque location to visit.

There's lots of parking available at the trailhead. Cross the train tracks to visit the suspension bridge and view the falls.

Tightly surrounded by the granite walls of Snowshoe Peak, Leigh Lake is an awe-inspiring scene! the south ascent around the lake gives the best vantage point for a birds-eye view of the lake.

Enter another world as you discover the variety of color and designs of the fantastic fungi. Here you will find loads of mushrooms of all types!

The Ross Creek Cedars Scenic Area is 100 acres 1,000 year old cedars, as well as many plant and animal species native to the grove. The western red cedars, some of which are more than 8 feet in diameter, tower over you as you enjoy this peaceful area.

Ross Creek, unlike our sweet-natured but insecure paleontologist, is rugged and serene. Carefully cross this creek to continue your journey as you leave the ancient cedars behind to explore towards Sawtooth Mountain.
