Built in the late 12th century, this structure was the ceremonial gateway to one of England's most powerful Benedictine abbeys.

Construction of the current building began in 1118 under Abbot John de Sais. The magnificent Romanesque-style building took over a century to complete.

The River Nene path in Peterborough is a scenic riverside route that forms part of Nene Park. It is a good route for walking and running.

Peterborough's Cathedral Square was once a medieval marketplace. The square is defined by historic buildings, including the Peterborough Guildhall and St. John the Baptist Church.

Only the walls remain today. The cloister was destroyed after 1643 during the English Civil War.

The grounds of Peterborough Cathedral, are known as the Minster Precinct. Originally a monastic site, the area features gardens, historical buildings, and paths that lead to the stunning Norman cathedral.

For over 500 years, the house has been continuously occupied by the Cecil family, and direct descendants still live there today.

Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre Just a little tip for anyone using the caravan site next door: The visitor centre shop is a brilliant place to grab supplies. It has a lovely farm shop section with local produce, perfect for stocking up on tasty treats. They also have a good selection of small toys and gifts, which is handy if you need to keep the kids entertained!

Gunwade Lake at Ferry Meadows is a fantastic spot for a flat and scenic run. If you're a runner, I highly recommend checking it out! The path is wide and well-maintained, and you'll often see lots of other runners and walkers, making it a really friendly and motivating place to be. The lodges, along with the triple-arched gateway, were added to the Burghley estate as part of its expansion along the Great North Road, enhancing the estate's grandeur and providing a stunning entrance.

The Bottle Lodges at Burghley House are a pair of distinctive gatehouses located at the entrance to the estate, built in 1801 to commemorate the Earl of Exeter's elevation to the marquessate.

This is a grade II listed pedestrain bridge over the River Welland, dating from 1881 and built by Stamford Town Council to replace one destroyed by flood in July 1880. It is built out of rubble stone and iron.

Burghley House is open daily except Fridays, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, while the Gardens and Adventure Play area are open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The Norman Gate, also known as the Great Gate, Outer Gate, or Minster Foregate, serves as the primary entry point to the Galilee Court—the expansive area directly in front of the cathedral's west facade from Cathedral Square.

It is situated at the east end of St George's Square with a triangular burial ground around it.
