Great location for an overnight stay along Pine Creek. Plenty of tent sites, access to the Creek.

This is the "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania." Here, you are actually hiking right through the canyon itself. You'll be constantly serenaded by the sound of Pine Creek and have incredible, up-close views of the water.

Located near the Pine Creek Rail Trail and Ansonia, the Southern Terminus of the West Rim Trail offers a straightforward entry point into one of Pennsylvania’s most scenic long-distance hikes. There’s space for roadside parking near the trailhead on Colton Road, making it a practical spot to kick off your thru-hike. From here, the trail quickly immerses you in quiet hardwood forest before climbing toward some of the trail’s best overlooks. Make sure to fill up on water early—sources are limited in this section.

Gillespie Point is a popular hiking destination. The trail leading up to it is part of the Mid-State Trail, so follow the orange blaze. This will take you to a scenic overlook with panoramic views of the surrounding area, including Pine Creek and the canyon.

At the center of the park is the 137-acre man-made lake by the same name. The trails of the park wind through forests, along streams, and the lake, providing a variety of areas to enjoy. The park can be explored on foot or by bike.

Hills Creek Lake is a great spot for swimming, boating, and fishing. The trails around the lake offer scenic overlooks of the beautiful ecosystem.

The C. Lynn Keller Trail is a 6.7-mile loop trail. Dogs are allowed on leash. The trail passes through varied terrain, including forests and some rocky areas. You may encounter other hikers, but the trail is generally quiet.

Ives Run Recreation Area offers several trails for hiking and exploration. They vary in length and difficulty, accommodating different experience levels. You can encounter diverse terrain including forests, wetlands, and open areas, or swim, boat, and fish in Hammond Lake.
