Lots of breeze to get there, but good paths around it to explore.

It is currently part of the Alarcos and Calatrava la Vieja Archaeological Park, part of the Archaeological Park Network of the Regional Government of Castilla-La Mancha. Its Parish Church, a Gothic building with Renaissance renovations, preserves a 16th-century painting and an important polychrome marble image of St. Mary of the Martyrs from the 13th century.

This castle stands on the impressive Alacranejo hill and, despite its original defensive character, it underwent various modifications. Opposite it there is another hill with the ruins of the Salvatierra Castle, in the lands of Calzada de Calatrava. It probably has Arab origins, but it was deeply remodeled with the transfer of the knights of the Order from the Castle of Calatrava La Vieja (Carrión de Calatrava) in 1217, after the battle of Las Navas de Tolosa with the aim of consolidating the defensive line of Sierra Morena. In turn, it is made up of three walled enclosures and is accessed by the original road that was built on the occasion of the visit of Philip II through the Iron Gate, in red volcanic stone. Afterwards, we can find the Gate of the Arches, which allows entry into the parlatorio or courtyard of the convent, the courtyards, the church, the rooms and the refectory. There are hardly any remains of what was the castle and the church, but a beautiful landscape to get close to.

In the Park is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Alarcos, a Gothic-style hermitage located in Alarcos, declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1980. Gothic style and basilica in plan, a large tracery rose window opens above its door. Their pilgrimage is celebrated on Pentecost Monday.

The Alarcos hill is located on the left bank of the Guadiana River, 8 kilometers from Ciudad Real capital. Excavated since 1984, we mainly find archaeological remains that show human occupation of this space from the Bronze Age to the Middle Ages, with a long intermediate period of depopulation in Roman and Visigothic times.

In the town, the parish church, from the 18th century, and a house where Garcilaso de la Vega lived, very restored, with a coat of arms. It is the town with the smallest municipal area. The name of this municipality derives from the one used in Arabic, which in turn came from Roman times, taking it from a primitive indigenous word, and can therefore be considered one of the oldest place names in the region. In any case, it does not seem that it is exclusive to this municipality, since in the area of Los Cortijos there is an annex, stream and port of Caracuel.

Bolaños de Calatrava is located in the volcanic area of Campo de Calatrava. Reference city in the region is one of the most populated and with a strong economy based on industry and services. Its monumental castle of Arab origin known as Castillo de Doña Berenguela stands out. The fortress is located in the center of the town, it can be visited and hosts a great cultural and tourist programme. The Hermitage of Cristo de la Columna from the 14th century with a Baroque altarpiece and Gothic paintings on the walls; the Parish Church of San Felipe and Santiago, built in the 16th century; the Mudejar houses of Calle Cristo; the noble house of Coca; the Casino de la Verja and the hermitages of the Virgen del Monte make up the most important visiting areas that arouse great interest.
