The Reeuwijkse Plassen are a long, elongated water and nature reserve near Gouda, created by medieval peat extraction. It's a popular area for walking, cycling, and especially for boating and stand-up paddleboarding. Around the lakes, you'll find beaches, nature, and charming restaurants and cafes, especially near Reeuwijk-Brug.

The Reeuwijkse Plassen consist of thirteen lakes, twelve of which were created by peat extraction in the 18th century. One lake, the Broekvelden/Vettenbroek, was only created in the 20th century by sand extraction. Today, many of the lakes are used for water recreation.

Plas Elfhoeven is a recreational lake in the Reeuwijkse Plassen, ideal for swimming, boating, and enjoying nature. Amenities include a sunbathing lawn, a swimming area, and boat rentals. The area is peaceful and natural, popular with water sports enthusiasts and hikers.

The Oude Rijn Towpath is a historic path that winds along the Old Rhine, originally constructed in the 17th century to tow barges. These barges were unmanned boats pulled upstream by a rope, often attached to a horse or a person. The path ran from Leiden to Utrecht and was a vital link for the transport of goods and people.

The "Phoenix" warehouse in Bodegraven is an industrial monument dating from around 1905, originally built as an oil mill and later used by the Andrélon shampoo factory. After closing in 2005, the building was transformed into a residential complex with 32 modern owner-occupied homes. The characteristic facade and chimney have been preserved and, together with its location on the Oude Rijn river, form a striking image in the village.
