Schoonhoven's water tower was built in 1901 in the Neo-Renaissance style with chalet influences and stands approximately 50 meters tall. Once part of the water supply system, it is now a national monument with residential functions and a holiday apartment. The tower is a striking landmark on the Lek River and a symbol of the city.

Anyone visiting South Holland cannot miss a visit to the windmills of Kinderdijk. Admission to the site is free, but the tour of the windmills is not. You can also see all the sights in one go by purchasing a combination ticket. This also includes a boat trip along the canals. Unlike the windmills of Zannse Schans, the windmills of Kinderdijk have retained their authenticity. They don't appear kitschy or tourist-oriented at all, and they aren't overcrowded. However, you're almost never completely without tourists. A visit in the late afternoon is recommended, as most of the crowds are over by then. Incidentally, there are now a limited number of parking spaces in front of the entrance. The cost is just under €10 per day! There is also a shuttle bus to the nearest village, which costs the same amount, including the parking fee.

When walking, make sure you walk on the east side. There are still a few parts where cars drive, but the other side is much busier. The view on the west side is also more beautiful. Especially the part between the Vlist and the Dove Gat where many birds are.

The windmills of Kinderdijk are a group of 19 monumental windmills in the Alblasserwaard polder in the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Most of the mills belong to the village of Kinderdijk in the municipality of Molenlanden, and one mill, De Blokker, belongs to the municipality of Alblasserdam.
