There's a good trail on the ground either from Flasby (the more interesting route) or Skipton side, and a rocky summit with a trig point - the perfect destination for a fell run

Not accessible if your not willing to do a Little Rock climbing!

Specular limestone waterfall which is understandably popular and gets very busy. For the best experience, visit on a wet and blustery autumn or winter's day when not only will the waterfall be in full flow, but you might actually get to see it without all the 'wild swimming' instagrammers

After the climb the all round view is worth the effort. Allow time for the both ascent and descent

If you are feeling brave and you are good at climbing, you can go up the waterfall and follow a path upto the top of Gordale Scar, but it's not easy and the flow of the water can change daily depending on weather and rain etc so this can increase the difficulty and danger, and plus like myself you might get wet feet lol.

Gordale Scar is a stunning natural wonder which is not that hard to navigate even if you're not familiar with the area. To make your experience more enjoyable, make sure to plan your route and be prepared for the steep climb up to the top of the waterfall. Be sure to pack appropriate gear for the weather conditions, as the gorge can be slippery and wet. Wearing sturdy shoes with good grip, and bringing waterproof clothing can help ensure you have a comfortable and safe experience.

Hiking up the waterfall area is dangerous at many times of the year...

Simon's Seat is a prominent grit stone outcrop at 485m just within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. There is a trig point and amazing views across the Dales. Simon's Seat is on the Bolton Abbey estate and is accessible to all as it's on open access land.

Arriving at a style gate, pass through and enter thick woodlands where you’ll be in earshot of Janet’s Foss — sounds guiding you to the final destination: a hidden waterfall and plunge pool hemmed in by trees that feels a million miles from the stress and strains of modern life.

Formed on Middle Craven Fault, the first thing that is likely to strike you is just how deep this gigantic collapsed cave system is. The path leading here is easy terrain, too, making this a case of maximum payoff for comparatively little effort — certainly in comparison with making it to the top of the Cove. Tired or not, we certainly don’t advise rushing this part of the adventure as you really don’t see places like this every day.

Probably the best place in Yorkshire for a picnic, not least if you manage to miss the crowds that can be sizeable during peak times and the busy season.

Malham Cove, where the cliff face stretches up an impressive 260 feet. The very top is badly eroded, and geology fans will be interested to know the limestone pavement is of a particularly rare pattern for this part of England. Spend some time taking in the raw majesty from the foot of the rock, which was carved out over centuries as the glacier that once stood here melted. A great place for echoes and acoustics.

A very pretty walk, so many different views and then leading into a forest where the fall is. A lovely easy walk on its own.

GENERAL GEOLOGY Limestone pavements are glacially smoothed areas of flat, grey, limestone rock incised with deep fissures. They’re often found at the top of a cliff in the hillside (known as a ‘scar’). It’s a natural karst landscape where the exposed rock surface has been weathered by the slightly acidic rain to form fissures (grykes) and leaving standing blocks (clints) The pavements are usually in areas grazed by sheep but still manage to be botanically rich, although it might not seem like it at first glance! Have a look down in the grykes where the shelter provides a safe haven for some rarer plants such as ferns and saxifrage. Limestone pavements are synonymous with the Yorkshire Dales, and the southwestern area has the finest examples including: Malham Cove & Twistleton Scar.

Perfect for a dip! Deep enough to dive into when the water level is high (we saw someone do it!)
