La Concha is a wonderful goal for a stunning view and hike. Two considerations: When it is very sunny, you’ll be exposed to the sun pretty much all the time. Sunscreen and a hat are most definitely necessary. There are two great starting points: one from Istan (more elevation) and one from the Refugio (less elevation, starts in a forest). I have done both hikes and would recommend to start with the one from Refugio: https://www.komoot.com/de-de/tour/2144328300

Tip: it's a beautiful view right here… if you want, you can continue to the peak, but then return and walk around the peak to get to Pico La Concha. Because, the way down on the other side is not easy / if doable at all.

Characteristic mountain on PR-A 139. You can climb directly from Istán, or as we did, use part of the PR-A 135, which gives you impressive views over the Embalse de la Concepción reservoir to the Costa del Sol and, weather permitting, to the Strait of Gibraltar.

A drinking fountain worth seeing, including the irrigation canals that were already laid out by the Moors! In the small town there are several small drinking fountains 🚰

This is Istán's old washhouse. Many of the villagers used to do their laundry here.
