This is one of the best viewpoints in the UK, and I've seen a few! Well worth the effort for that extraordinary view into the Cuillin above Loch Coruisk.

A great view to Sgurr nan Gillean, which looks particularly spiky from this direction.

You have to climb up over this pass to get down to Camasunary, but it is not that high and the track is good.

A safe hut for the night. There are plenty of sleeping places. Perhaps up to 20 people can sleep here. There's a simple toilet further up. You'll need to go further away to get water.

A truly wonderful and airy place!

The shortest route is from the east, along the track that starts near Kilmarie, over the ridge and down to the seashore at Camasunary. From there cross the river (note this will only be possible if the weather has been reasonably dry), and then up a pathless slope to gain the ridge. The view is definitely one of the best in the UK.

We hiked around the loch once. It was a beautiful walk, but muddy in places. We walked for a leisurely 3.5 hours.

After a short walk from Loch an Athain, the larger loch - Loch na Creitheach - comes into view. The pebble beach is quiet and secluded. In the afternoon, it is an ideal place to watch the clouds drift over Bla Bheinn and reflect in the water's surface.

The boat trip to the lake - about half an hour - is an experience in itself. From the pier you can reach the lake in just a few minutes: a magnificent mountain lake panorama at sea level! However, the path around the lake can be very muddy. Two hours of walking is not enough and you will need very sturdy shoes.

Climbed this superb hill yesterday, taking a chance by climbing up through hill fog. I was rewarded with a stunning inversion with only the Cuillin standing above a White sea of cloud. It was truly beautiful and something I will remember for the rest of my days.

At this point, you can split in different directions. Kilmarie car park, Camasunary Bay and South Ridge of Blà Bheinn.

Few summit viewpoints rival Sgùrr na Stri. Despite its diminutive 1,620-foot (494 m) height, it reveals a vista that most peaks many times its size can't match. The prospect of the Cuillin Ridge rising above Loch Coruisk is rightly celebrated as one of the greatest views in Britain. However, Sgùrr na Stri is not easily attained. Your best options are the scrambles up from the coast or a long but spectacular walk down Glen Sligachan from its namesake hotel.

The skeleton of Captain Maryon was found on this spot in 1948, around two years after he set out for a walk from Sligachan. In tribute to the memory of his wartime friend, Myles Morrison built this impressive, 9-foot (2.7 m) cairn from the surrounding gabbro rock. The spot, on the flanks of Sgùrr Hain, enjoys magnificent views down towards Loch a' Choire Riabaich and up to the northern Cuillin, where Sgùrr nan Gillean's pointed form looks particularly impressive.
