Good bothy - there is a well equipped public toilet with sanitary towels and loo roll thankfully!

Jock's Road (or Tolmounth) is a 22km footpath between Braemar and Glen Clova, via Glen Callater and Glen Doll. It may be named after Jock Winter, a shepherd who worked with the Scottish Right of Way Society. They challenged the local landowner and won the right-of-way for the historic drovers route. Note that some of this route is pathless, as it's quite boggy when ascending from Loch Callater.

This stretches as far as I could see in both directions, right over the summit! Must have been some fights over this hill 🤣

Who builds a wall up and over a Munro? Anyone else thinking of the Game of Thrones?

Rocky section at top is straightforward - no scrambling required.

Easily done on a gravel bike, long slog if walking

A freshwater, upland loch, surrounded by steep hills. Home of freshwater fish, such as trout, salmon and eels.

Looking down the faint path towards Loch Callater. A good view and the eagle eyed might spot the small bothy at the shore.

The bothy itself is just round the side of the main building.

You can access Carn an t-Sagairt Mor from Callater Stables and once you are up here, enjoy the stunning views (if the weather is nice) and try to bagg as many munros as possible. There are quite a few all around you with just tiny ups and downs to get to the summits.

Jock's Road is a popular and easy access route into the mountains. It follows Callater Burn, takes you to Callater Loch and the bothy and further along the water.

In springtime you can see thundering waterfalls coming down the mountains - this is one of the most beautiful views in the area.

There’s a space for about 5 cars just off the road after glenshee ski centre

Usually approached from Glenshee, this Munro has some good views and is easily approached using a mix of paths and grassy slopes. Old county boundary dykes run through the centre of it.

A good viewpoint and can be easily approached from several directions. Many take Jock's road from Glen Callater, or walk with 5 other Munros from Glenshee. However the route I took followed Jock's Road from Glen Doll. Good paths and combined with Tom Buidhe.
