The Loch of Skene is a medium sized freshwater loch. It was artificially enlarged by partially damming the outflow. The loch was used to power the tweed mill downstream, but this stopped in 1906. Since then, the water has been used to generate electricity. It is designated as an SSSI for the wildlife in the area.

This beautiful building looks like it’s been converted into flats / apartments and is really well maintained. A lovely building to admire while passing and we loved the gentle flat paths for walking with the baby in a sling

You can often see swans in this little lake - be warned, they will come up to you expecting a feed!
