spectacular 14th C monastic Tithe Barn 51 metres long. English Heritage but free to enter

the point at which the Kennet and Avon canal crossed the river and railway line via the Aqueduct built by John Rennie & John Thomas between 1797 and 1801. Good pub here which will reopen summer 2025. This is on the main railway line now becoming a regular (request?) stop since 2011

It was extremely flooded when I went, but of course this doesn't happen all year!! Make sure to check out the tithe barn, and the absolutely stunning Saxon church!

Enjoy a beautiful stretch of walking along the softly flowing Kennett & Avon Canal between Bradford-on-Avon & Avoncliffe.

A really fun little cut through that's used on the B-O-A Walking Wheel trail. From the top in Winsley you start over an interesting stone stile and run down a walled trail, after the next stile and a few steps it gets steeper down to the end of the road in Murhill. Fun and fast as a descent or a tough steep climb.

The Avoncliff Aqueduct is a historic aqueduct that carries the Kennet and Avon Canal over the River Avon. It's considered one of the most impressive feats of engineering on the canal. The aqueduct was designed by the famous canal engineer John Rennie, and was completed in 1801. It's made of local limestone and is adjacent to the Avoncliff railway station, which adds to its charm and accessibility.

The town seems pretty sparse on a Sunday for a decent coffee stop. We really liked this one 👍

Lovely place to stop off for food and drink. Chefs fish & chips is fab. Lovely riverside view in summer time, watch out for wildlife including fish, ducks, swans and kingfisher.

Farm track from the K&A canal to Turleigh with views over to Avoncliff. Just about ridable on a road bike but a gravel or cx bike would be more enjoyable.

Great spot! Who needs Bike Park Wales when you’ve got here! Awesome steep, techy and jumpy trails. Best accessed with someone with knowledge or getting off and looking around. Wouldn’t recommend riding when it’s super muddy as the mud clogs up tires and is un-rideable + will ruin for others. Have also been told it’s privately owned and the owner very kindly permits riders to use, but does not want people riding or building on the left side (as you look from the road), so definitely best to avoid this section.

Like the nearby Dundas Aqueduct, Avoncliff was built by John Rennie to carry the Kennet and Avon Canal over the river Avon and opened in 1805. Nice place to stop when cycling along the canal.

Nice bridleway linking the canal to Turleigh. Good view over Avoncliff. Good surface, bit stony, cross/gravel/xc. Either direction.

Not stopped for a pint or anything there yet but looking forward to the day i can! Beautiful picturesque spot overlooking the Avoncliff aqueduct, at the point where the Kennet canal and river Avon cross

Variety of riding in this area. The road sectiin is quiet and has good alternative views of the river whilst there are also mtb trails for different l3vels
