There are documentary references to the building of "A Bridge on the River Stour adjacent to the White Mill" in the year 1175. Although the bridge you'll see today is probably a sixteenth century structure (somewhat hacked around by the Victorians). It is known, from an investigation of the foundations a few years ago, that the bridge stands on timber pilings which have themselves been carbon dated to the twelfth century. This is alleged to be the oldest bridge site in Dorset. Note the bridge warning plate "Any person wilfully damaging any part of this County Bridge will be guilty of Felony and upon conviction liable to be Transported For Life by the court"

From this beautiful multi-arched stone bridge, you can enjoy views of the River Stour as it flows through Blandford Forum. The only downside is that it has a sidewalk on only one side.

The Crown is reportedly the oldest inn in Dorset and has been a residence since the 10th Century. The Inn joined the Hall and Woodhouse family in 1931 and in 2017 the company spent over £3 million on refurbishing the bedrooms, bar and dining room, resurrecting the beautiful Georgian Coaching Inn to its former splendour

The main landmark of the centre of Blandford Forum. A quite impressive church which was unfortunately covered in scaffolding but still showed signs of its beauty.

Nice views from White Mill Bridge over the River Stour. The bridge is a grade 1 listed 14th century stone bridge. The National Trust managed White Bridge Mill is close by. A 18th century corn mill which still houses the old wooden machinery. You can visit the mill from 12:00 - 16:00 on weekends.

Early morning sunrise

great views from the B3081 on Charlton Down. Either hard won after the long climb up the zig-zags and then the drag up the downs or the beginning of an awesome fast descent. The high point is about 263m which gives a good view in all directions.

Do it the other way - much more fun as a descent!

Good pub part or hall and Woodhouse brewery which is the local brewery

Mild gravel off road ex railway track from Sturminster Newton to Blandford. Road traffic free.
