This is the entrance to Clouds Hill, the rural retreat of Lawrence of Arabia. There is a parking area where you can leave your car.

just a short distance from this junction is Clouds Hill, T.E.Lawrences little cottage on the heathland. Owned by the National Trust.

T E Lawrence was the British Intelligence Officer who fought alongside Arab guerrilla forces in the Middle East during the First World War. He later worked as an advisor to Winston Churchill and then for the RAF. Clouds Hill was where he chose to live, before coming to an untimely motorbike death aged just 46.
