The village of Mizoen, located in the Isère department of France (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region), is a typical mountain settlement at the entrance to the Écrins National Park, near Le Bourg-d'Oisans. Its history is deeply linked to mountain agriculture, livestock farming, and, more recently, tourism development thanks to its proximity to the renowned Les Deux Alpes ski resort, offering a peaceful and panoramic setting overlooking Lake Chambon.

A wonderful welcome at the Refuge des Clos, a short stop with an omelet and croque-monsieur. Excellent, I recommend it.

This little "secret garden", as the managers of the refuge describe it, is located above Lake Chambon, in the Écrins. The refuge has a capacity of 19 places, divided into two dormitories and has dry toilets outside. You can also enjoy a catering service all day long. Beautiful view over the lake. Those who are not afraid of heights can look straight down here on the north side, along the dam. Please note: there is often a lot of traffic at this point.
