Lovely view of the house from the hill

The view of giant is best from the opposite hill. When I took my photo the chalk was very dull so viewing wasn’t brilliant but I know they restore him every now and again so he should be bright again.The climb up past the giant is very steep so if hiking poles would be a great addition and grippy footwear 👟

Good gravel track to and from Upper Sydling

Lunch stop - there are two pubs or do what I did and get a freshly baked Cornish Pastie, banana and cup of tea and a fiver from the village shop.

Parish church, largely mid C14, upper stage of tower and rebuilding of south chapel, C15, restoration and partial rebuilding of chancel 1844. 

very rutted and loamy, rooty struggled with grip , ideal for fat bike tyres or 3 inch+ and full suspension , not good for hardtails

the gates to the driveway seem to be always open, if come via the footpath you will need lift you bike over the gates. Church seems to be open all the time

Tough climb out of Cerne Abbas with steep section in the middle. Take care if descending. The reward is a lovely descent into Piddletrenthide with stunning views.
