A beautifully landscaped oriental park. Very well served by cycle paths from Cholet or Bressuire/Mauléon. The largest Japanese garden in Europe.

One of the magnificent dams of Maine et Loire, the Moine River flows through this lake to flow into another lake, the Ribou near Cholet. A 16km hike around the lake can be done by following the yellow markers.

Very pretty setting on the edge of the town's lake. Too bad it's impossible to go around it by bike.

Old fortified castle originally built in the 11th century by Count Foulques Nerra who was one of the founders of Anjou; he fortified the entire rich province through 27 castles and forts including this one, marking the southern line of its defense. Today listed as a Historic Monument, the building underwent several alterations in the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries before being burned during the French Revolution. Purchased and renovated at the beginning of the 19th century, Château de Passavant became an important wine estate recognized among the Côteaux du Layon. The road passes under the access bridge to the castle.

The dam itself is made up of two sets: a long curved dike made of rock on the upstream side, with a grassy embankment on the downstream side; a reinforced core in the form of six concrete vaults. The reservoir, with a surface area of 220 ha, stretches as far as Maulévrier, on the edge of Deux-Sèvres. Fishing is tolerated there, as is sailing in summer. The rest of the activities are subject to greater restrictions than at the Ribou dam. This is justified by the classification as a natural zone of ecological, fauna and flora interest (ZNIEFF) of the perimeter. The dam was built in 1977 and completed in 1979. It is owned by the town of Cholet, and its main purpose is to provide drinking water and irrigation to the region. The dam is made up of two parts: a curved rock dike on the upstream side, and a core reinforced with six concrete arches. The dam is 27 meters high and approximately 800 meters long. The dam has a capacity of 14 million cubic meters of water.

Very nice oriental garden (larger in Europe)

Entrance to the park which is hardly visible from the road. With its 29ha, it is the largest Japanese-inspired park in Europe which can be visited through the ticket office. Originally, this garden was part of the outbuildings of the neighboring Château Colbert. The estate was bought by the Bergère family at the end of the 19th century. The son-in-law of the family, Alexandre MARCEL, a famous orientalist architect, converted the park into a Japanese landscape, notably using molds and pieces from the 1900 Universal Exhibition in which he participated.
